Copyright & Takedowns

Last updated · October 3, 2026

The short version Readery shows book covers and details so readers can recognize the books they track. If you own the rights to something shown in Readery and want it removed, email us and we'll review your request promptly.

What Readery shows

Book titles, author names, cover images and descriptions come from outside book databases, including Google Books, Hardcover, Open Library and the New York Times bestseller lists. Covers appear small, next to the book they belong to, so readers can find and remember their books. Readery doesn't sell covers or use them as artwork for anything else. Authors, illustrators and publishers keep all rights to their work.

How to ask for something to be removed

Email hello@readeryapp.com with the subject line “Copyright notice” and include:

  1. Your name, address, phone number and email.
  2. The work you own the rights to (for example, the cover art for a specific book).
  3. Where it appears in Readery: the book's title and author, or a screenshot.
  4. A statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorized by you, your agent or the law.
  5. A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the rights owner or authorized to act for them.
  6. Your physical or electronic signature (typing your full name is fine).

These are the details the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act asks for (17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3)). Once we receive a complete notice, we'll review it, remove or replace the material where appropriate, and let you know.

If your content was removed by mistake

If something you shared was removed and you believe that was a mistake, email us with the same subject line, describe what was removed and where it appeared before removal, and include a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe it was removed by mistake, plus your name, address, phone number and signature, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address (or, if you are outside the U.S., any judicial district where Readery may be found) and will accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice. We'll review it and respond.

Repeat infringement

We may remove the accounts of readers who repeatedly share material they don't have the right to share.
